Teacher Complaint: Wells - New Prospect Elementary School

We have had a couple of issues this year regarding my child's teacher, but today it really made me even more upset when he came home from school and told me he had thrown up in school and when he told Mrs. Wells, all she replied was "okay". A child getting sick in school is inevitable, but when the child is not given any chance to go to the clinic and the parent was never notified, then it becomes a problem. It seems that since we had our first conference with Mrs. Wells and declined ADD medication, (sorry, she is a TEACHER, not a DOCTOR! and we have already spoken with our pediatrician) it seems as if she takes any and all opportunities to ignore or make an example out of my child in her class.

I am going to start by saying that which ever action you take just remember your child will be in the middle of it all and alone at the school, so be really careful. You need to document every incident, every meeting anything that you remember and everything that you may think is important. The ideal situation would be to change your child to another class, but sometimes this is not possible. If I were you, I would have a conference with the teacher. During the meeting, I would stay focus and tell Mr/Ms. Wells that you are aware of the singling out incidents, the ignoring during schools hours and ALSO how this is affecting your child not only academically but overall. and then tell Mr/Ms Wells you want to hear their side of the story. Just because your listening to their side doesn't mean you agree with them on anything, you are just showing respect for the process and because you honestly want to resolve this problem on a good note with the teacher. However, You may want to write everything down discussed during the meeting and don't forget to sign in the office with a pen not pencil.

Remember, I am not telling you that this action would resolve your problem, this is just what I would do in your situation. And just so you know I love teachers and going after teacher just because you dislike them is wrong.
