Teacher Complaint: Jennifer Levi - Ferguson Joseph C Sch
A teacher by the name Ms. Jennifer Levi, who works at Joseph Ferguson School in Philadelphia, PA., was substituting for a regular teacher on 11/12/09, around 2:00pm. in the Social Studies classroom. Right under her nose, a male student kept harrasing my daughter and other classmates (talking, putting his hands on her back, leaning on her back, etc.) My daughter repeatedly prompted the boy to stop. The teacher repeatedly prompted the student to stop. Despite numerous prompts from both, the boy did not abide. This happened repeatedly over a period of time.
At some point, May N. Kuock (my daughter's name) decided to take matters into her own hands. She hit the boy in the face a way that caused two scratch marks on his face. The scratches caused the boy to bleed. Photos were taken of his bleeding face. May was given a one-day out-of-school suspension.
My complaint:
The teacher’s indifference toward the boy's indiscipline created unsafe conditions in the classroom whereby a student got hurt and another one was suspended. I did not and am not disputing that May's behaviors warrant disciplinary intervention. I am raising concerns over the school's and the teacher's lack of foresight and poor judgment as it relates to this particular situation. I am also complaining against the teacher and the school for not taking proactive steps for preventing an escalation of the toxic interaction which took place in her classroom.
If my child had to be punished/disciplined, so does Ms. Jennifer Levi and Ferguson School. Please help investigate this incident.
