Teacher Complaint: Doris Doyon - Mater Dei High School

Mater Dei lost a really good band director this year. What is their problem?? If they are such a great private school than why can't they keep good teachers like Ms. Doyon??

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA xD this has to either be a parent or one of her cronies because you're insane if you think that crazy Nazi woman is a good teacher That was the second job she's ever gotten fired from and thank god! By the way, the band program she shrunk from 75 people to 25 is now doing better than they have been the past two years (people came back because she was fired.) I feel sorry for whomever gets her next...

I am going to have to agree with the preceding post. I have witnessed the detrimental effect that this woman has imposed upon the school's musical department. There were many crucial areas in which she, simply, did not provide the students with the education that they needed, were they to bear an interest in continuing on, with music. She may have provided attention to some musical ensembles, but there were others that she greatly neglected, to the extent that students left the program, because they felt that they were not learning and were wasting their time. As a trained musician, I can say (with complete confidence) that the material that she provided the students was inadequate and minuscule, in comparison to an acceptable learning environment for students of music (whether in the context of performance or understanding of music theory). This does not even delve into the factor of her behavior towards students. There was a great sensation of favoritism, to the degree that some students received smiles and praise and others were punished and reprimanded, on a daily basis. I am supportive of punishing students for misbehavior, but many of these occasions were not to do with misbehavior of serious proportion. In fact, many times did not involve misdemeanor, at all. I have seen and heard of times in which certain students were the target of her suspicions, and would be given detentions or sent to the dean's office (over a mere suspicion, and a poorly founded one, at that). Parents. Please do not show bias towards this woman, simply, because she is an adult. If you have not been a direct observer of the situation, in question, then you have no reason to provide opinion over such a serious matter. Many students can testify to the claims that have been made. There are many parents that would agree, as well. The reason being that they have been observant enough to research (thoroughly) into the matter, instead of blindly shooting out opinions, without the slightest bit of concrete evidence.
