The real problem in this situation are the parents who choose to support their children in a rebellion against the rules. This type of reaction is only postponing the inevitable: someday these kids are going to have to wake up, get dressed (in work appropriate attire), take out their nose rings, put on some closed toed shoes, and go to work like the rest of us. Parents who support their children in this endeavor are actually enabling their teenagers and this behavior will only cause kids to act as if they are more privileged than others. These kids get at least two ten minute breaks between classes and there's usually more than one bathroom on campus, so if they want to be treated like responsible students they should take advantage of the breaks that they are given, like responsible adults would in this type of situation. Maybe the teachers should stand outside the classroom doors and ask each student if they need to "go pee-pee" before class like we would a small child before a road trip. Someone should inform these students and their privileged parents that there are some things in this world worth protesting, and rules against flip-flops and bathroom breaks are not included in this list. I wonder what the grandparents of these silly kids think about these rules. I'm sure that the grandparents could inform us about some protests that were worth our time and energy!!!!!
