Teacher Complaint: Shawntae Faith Collins - Don't Know School's Name

I am an independent contractor who offers his services on Craigslist as a writer, typist, editor and proofreader. In September 2010, Shawntae Faith Collins, a guest teacher in the Clark County School District system, hired me to edit and re-type her college dissertation, agreeing to my standard rate of $20 per hour.

I finished the work in three hours and tried to get in touch with her to bill her for the $60 I was now owed. This initially proved to be impossible because the cell phone number that she gave me was no longer valid for her.

In mid-October 2010 I was finally able to track her down via her Facebook page. At that point I informed her that the work was finished and asked her to make arrangements with me to pick up her work and to pay me.

She at first grudgingly agreed to pay me, but she also informed me that since I had no college background, she had come to decide that I was not qualified to do the work she had asked me to do. (This is completely untrue; one does not need to have gone to college to know how to re-type a manuscript or to edit for spelling and grammar.) After my continuing to send her messages about her bill, she flatly informed me that she was not going to pay me the $60 I am owed, offering instead a pittance of $25 for my "inconvenience."

Continued messages to her have gone unheeded. I am now seeking other ways to obtain my money from her.

This is a person who is entrusted with teaching children and helping to mold their young minds?
