Teacher Complaint: Cheryl Ross - Pinecrest Elementary
My child is a high functioning autistic child, has aspergers, he is in a regular ed Kindergarten class with accomodations. On Oct18th he was herded into the staff bathroom by the special ed director for the school, Cheryl Ross, where he became scared and tried to get out. She blocked the doorway while he screamed "let me out" (according to eye witnesses statements) for 43 MINUTES!!!
I have what was done on recording as we discussed it at a meeting last night. She became irrate because i accused her of being unprofessional and said this is standard protocol. Nowhere in my sons IEP does it say that they can use Aversive Intervention. She emotionally injured him. And while this was going on for 43 minutes 5-7 staff members stopped and asked if everything was ok but NOONE did anything.
this is unacceptable.
