Gretna Schools are a joke.. the no fail policy screws our grades over and no college will take us seriously.. we have people getting an 18 on the ACT leading our class rank because the school system is too lazy to weight our scores.. we have teachers thinking their husbands are aliens ( i thought it was a joke, unfortunitly it wasn't) and teachers not having the patience to teach you with out making you cry and im not a baby.. i just hate getting yelled at because i wasn't born with the knowledge of a certain formula that we were just learning.. every1 thinks thier skool is bad cuz of drugs or whatever... ya well i bet gretnas supplying them (dont quote me on that) it is also full of politics that.. i kno there are politics at all the schools, but this is over the line so much that the teachers are practically encouraging it.. the discipline is a joke.. i got suspended for joking and saying some1 was gay becuz he was being mean to girls.. and i wasnt saying it to be mean it was lighthearted, i got suspended for 3 days.. some1 gets caught SELLING drugs and/or buying and they get 3 days! I KNOW! one of the teachers give tests on thursday (your not supposed to becasue its church nite the nite before) and kids tell him he cant do that.. he says yes i can because the hand book says i cant give tests, but im giving QUIZES!.. and the principals back them up.. I like gretna all the way to 8th grade.. the elementary and middle schools are full of great teachers like Mr. Feeken and Mrs. Simpson. We are juniors and we still don't have any college advice or anything from the counselors.. they only talk to seniors!.. by that time it's too late.. My advice is, is go to gretna young but transfer before highschool, because you will be screw'd if you don't. If a teacher does something bad and you complain as a concerned parent or student, the school will back up the teacher without giving a thought to your concern. I've been trying to get out of gretna since freshmen year but the problem is is once your in gretna its hard to get out.. Gretna has screwed me over athletically and academically.
