Teacher Complaint: Kirk Johnson - Elgin Community College

Overall this teacher does NOT take the time to help a student understand what is being taught. Is disrespectful and shows favoritism to certain students. There is the suspiscion that this teacher has privately helped a student that is employed at the college.

When I asked if a certain math problem would be included, I was told that "it's in the book, it will be on the test". This teacher said that he is amazed that everyone thinks it's supposed to be easy. I said what gave him the idea that I expect it to be easy. I study 2-5 hours a day and he said that maybe I should try 10 hours. This teacher has been rude and just plain snotty to other women in the class. This teacher will not slow down and teach the math. The use of Power Point slides is NOT teaching. His penmanship on the board is poor and doesn't make anything clear.

I have NOTHING good to say about this teacher...not his teaching technique nor his personality.

I do believe what you are saying is quite true. I won't mention the student's full name but if the initials are(N.C), you are correct & this type of behavoir by this teacher should be reported to his superior. Go with your gut feelings because you are not alone. Also, when this type of mannerism is shown in the classroom and there is a pattern, that shows unprofessionalism, and favortism, which should have zero tollerance by the school board. It displays negative impact and soon will spread among all women of that particular class. Please, don't overlook this serious matter, take notes on the typical berhavor of the teacher. He is not smart on his thinking as he claims.
