Teacher Complaint: Mrs.smith - Ashurst Elementary

I find it only necessary that I notify and make aware the mistreatment, disrespect, and irrational behavior I experienced by an employee of Ashurst Elementary that took place this morning 8/16/11. After calling the office upon my return home they identified the woman as Mrs. Smith., whom this morning made no effort to identify to me who she was.
My intentions were to arrive at Ashurst early this morning before classes started to sort out some issues with my child's class placement, at which I did. Before entering the office the woman asked "what do you want?" I replied, "I called the office yesterday and they sent the principal an email letting her know I would be here first thing in the morning and I have questions concerning my son's class placement" She told me the principal will not be in most of the day cause she has important things to do such as meeting with the busses the first half of this morning. She also told me I could not "go into the office because it was too crowded" and to have a seat outside. I was carrying a newborn baby just 3 weeks old in his front fanny pack so was not able to sit due to the formations of this front pack. I was also pushing a small umbrella stroller with my one year old and my son and three year old daughter were standing next to me.
Standing there for a few moments I felt her Glaring at me. I assumed someone else noticed because a woman from whom I remember working in the office last year came out and nicely asked if there was something she could help me with. She let me know I needed to talk to, who I knew as the speech teacher, and said she would be right back. I saw Mrs. Betsy Schuetee walking up the hall towards the office and as I was standing there I waved hello. The woman raised her voice and yelled "you need to sit down" very rudely and all others standing around began to stare creating a tense and hostile atmosphere. My point was to make no response to the aggressive behavior she was showing me because of how out of line she was acting. So Mrs.Scheutee, the kids and I continued talking and discussing the new baby.
At this time the speech teacher came in and greeted me. My son worked with her last year she was familiar with his situation and got everything straightened out. I told her thank you and I was thankful for the changes that were made and that my concerns were addressed. I attended breakfast with my son and planned on escorting him to his NEW class due to the fact he tends to get easily confused when there are significant changes.
After finishing we proceeded to his new classroom as I saw a quite a few other parents also doing. The two oldest were walking in front of my stroller to the classroom I heard multiple snapping noises and saw the same woman whom was Identified as Mrs. Smith snapping her fingers over and over and over yelling "HEY HEY HEY" no one really knew who she was talking to cause we all looked but she yelled it in my ear and woke up my sleeping newborn. It just so happened the speech teacher was still standing in the hall because she just told us we needed to head outside that my son's class was no longer lined up. The speech teacher replied "that's their mom these are all her kids she is taking her son to class." The woman ignored her and yelled "NO RUNNING, We all have to follow the rules!" Who was running? She started yelling at my two year old "No Running" At this point I felt she had A LOT of nerve raising her voice at my kids like this, but still I said nothing.
She then turned to me stopped me and said "where are you going?" I knew that the speech teacher just told her where I was going but I replied "to take my son to class" not without a visitors pass she said, but by this time I was one door away and the kids were already there. So I stopped and called for my daughter to come back. She had just told me prior moments before I could not enter the office. I let her know I was just making sure he made it to the new class ok. She Replied "I'll take him!" After yelling at My children and I like that I did not feel safe with her taking him anywhere ! ! !
At that same moment another woman of her same ethnicity passes us by. Mrs. Smith asked do you have a pass, where are you going? The lady passing by replied just to those doors and Mrs. Smith let her proceed without a Pass. I let Mrs. Smith know that her decision to have me turn around but let the other woman proceed was unfair unjust and if you ask me just plain prejudice. WE WERE GOING TO THE SAME PLACE. She raised her voice and yelled at me "I asked you where you were going!" but that was not the issue the issue was she allowed another woman to proceed but was forcing me to turn around without both my children ahead of me. She continued to argue with me and raise her voice over my Baby's head and alarm him.
As we arrived to the door she asked for his teacher whom was not even at that door. I was glad I walked with my son and didn't leave him because he would have gotten lost or confused. We proceeded to the other side door outside where his teacher was. She said "we have a new student." He is not new we attended last year. His teacher shook my hand I was trying to introduce myself but she continued to talk over me so I waited till she was done saying what she needed to say. My son's teacher was trying to ask me questions but she answered them all for me, so now his teacher thinks HE IS NEW AND WE JUST MOVED HERE. I did however have a moment to let his teacher know he goes by a different last name BUT I was again corrected by Mrs. Smith who said the office says it this way so it has to be this way.
I walked my son to the end of the line and stood next to the other parents without a pass. I was just glad she was not hovering over me yelling at me anymore and I felt very uncomfortable leaving my son after seeing how she acted when I was there. I just had a baby and don't take to stress well and I feel I have been discriminated against for reasons unknown to me but I will not allow anyone to treat my children and I in such a manner that it makes me feel uncomfortable and fear for my child's safe and well being each day I drop him off.
