Teacher Complaint: Mrs. Cary - John Stockton Elementary School
Mrs. Cary gets her fair share of complaints from student and parents alike yet she makes no effort to adjust her style of teaching. The kids use agendas to track their homework and tasks, it is not suppose to be a method of communication between the parent and the teacher unless the information is enclosed in a envelope so the child cannot read it. Mrs. Cary continues to write demeaning comments in my child's agenda so that he can read them despite my request for her not too. I have asked for advice on how to help him at home and have suggested ways for her to help him in class, but she completely disregarded my requests. I have asked for help from the extended day teachers, the vice principal, and all of my child's teachers and no one cares to help him, putting all the responsibility on the parent to teach subjects that I have not had to deal with in some time. I am not an uneducated woman. I have a graduate degree but it is not in teaching and still some of the items my child needs to learn I cannot teach because I do not know the method that is being used. She continues to give low grades on assignments that were given a full effort. I can understand a lower grade like B or C but to give out a D just because subjectively it was not to her standards is ridiculous. I am absolutely to my wits end with her. How can I help my son when no one at the school is helping me to help him as well. Is homework really 75% of the grade? If that were the case and he did zero percent of the work then I could understand a low grade however to give a low grade because he has trouble with the subject and the teacher just fails over and over to correct the issue that is absurd!! My child is in Gifted class and score 5 on both subject for the FCAT and is by no means less intelligent than the average child but like most kids if they do not understand how to complete a task they will procrastinate. Is this concept really that difficult to understand? I plan on filing a complaint with the school board.
