My complaint is about the Teacher & Principal at Roberto Clemente Academy in Detroit. Mr. Detmer is my grandson 3rd grade teacher. at the beginning of the school year he seem ok with my grandson, but now he calls my grandson a liar, and he tells the other classmate that my grandson is a liar. so when my grandson tells him something that was said or done Mr. Detmer response would be "I don't believe you, you are a liar, you probable torn up your own paper" this been going on since school. christmas the last 2 days of class for xmas vacation, he held back my grandson toy that santa brought to the school the reason for that was because my grandson didn't write a thank you note for the gift and for the pizza that they serve for lunch that day (why should he thank the lunch aid for lunch?)Mr.Detmer said my grandson told a long time with the paper, but when I ask my grandson he said he wasn't for sure how to write it so he was thinking about what to say before the teacher came by his desk.Mr. Detmer stated that he would trying to teach how to be thankful and if I don't care then he (Mr. Detmer) don't care. while my grandson went up the stairs to get the gift, Mr.Detmer told my grandson (while he was on his way back down the stairs" if she don't care then I dont) what right does he have to say anything to my grandson? It was done with after we (Myself & Mr. Detmer)talked.
Then my grandson had home work due (this was this year 2011)and we (myself and my grandson) stay up all night trying to figure this problem out and when I got the hang of it I taught it to him so he can get the hang of it, the more we did the harder it became and he did it - it was hard but we done it. when my grandson return the homework in, the teacher Mr. Detmer told him because he had one wrong he told my grandson that he must had copy it, because he dont understand why he has one wrong. its sadden me to think that even when he trys hard he still get criticize from Mr. Detmer. This teacher has no problems expressing his opinion toward my grandson and the classmates. Every opinion he has for my grandson is always a NEGATIVE RESPONSE, and I am tired of it. he (Mr. Detmer) dont have to like my grandson but he do need to treat him with a little more respect then he do. Only one conclusion I can come up with and that is Mr. Detmer is Racial towards my grandson, all the evidence is basic on his attitude towards my grandson. I dont want him to teach my grandson anymore. I try talking with the pricipal about Mr. Detmer and nothing change, I try talking with the pricipal about the children in the classroom how they call him a Nigger and they hate that nigger, that word alone is highly offensive term for anyone. The princple said she will talk to the classmate about the racial remark, I don't think she did.
I personal think that the school board should make the staff take a ransom drug test, I personal think that they have hangovers from the night before. I often smell old liquior on the principal breath, Im talking about 8am. but what she does after school on her own time is none of my business, but I know she can not think straight with bad liquior on her breath. she never address none of my concerns about Mr. Detmer who can I make the complaint to if not the principal? I know Mr. Detmer don't like blacks or at least my grandson it shows in the way he mistreat him. I want something done about this. I ask before this school started that I wanted my grandson to be place in another classroom, but the principal refuse she said that its nowhere else to replace him, but if hes not being treated right by the teacher or the student then why cant she move him into another class where he feel as if someone cares cause Mr. Detmer really don't care. No matter what his feeling is concerning my grandson he is still the teacher and his job is to teach not judge. Eventually Mr. Detmer is judgmental and criticizing everything concerning my grandson, that along bring me back to the conclusion that Mr. Detmer don't like blacks. I need to be heard and it seem as if no one is listening to me. what is wrong with this system that no one is concern about the children of this world (at least in Detroit). Need an this problem solved.

I think this has nothing to do with the teacher disliking blacks. He probably just dislikes bad, disrespectful, lying students with ignorant parents who can't even write literately.
