Teacher Complaint: Cari Strange - Temescal Canyon High

Children attended Temescal Canyon High. Transferred out because of issues involving this teacher. Teacher controls all funds through ASB no monitoring, makes up her own rules, announces people have been put in positions just to "fill" until she is ready to take it back again, when her child arrives. Her arrogant behavior intimidates students, they know if they either agree with her, or they will be an outcast from the school-Her husband is Head football coach-She is in charge of ASB-and has an "Activity Director Title" on letterhead. She was made aware of Medical challenges of my daughter-broke confidentiality while my daughter attended the school and HIPPA law and shared info with students.
As stated my students transferred out of the school, to a rival school across town. At last nights football game our school hosted, she arrived with items that could cost my daughter her life-She was aware the school was made LATEX free do to numerous student and staff allergies. When noticed balloons were put up, administrators from the site asked her to remove them. She refused, called her principal. After numerous fights about "her right to keep them up" she was still asked to remove them-she said she would when she had students arrive to help. 45 minutes later a family friend sitting by my daughter could not believe the out right disrespect of a persons life. He walked across to the other side and took a picture and asked them to take them down, that he would even go by them whatever decorations they wanted. My husband had followed him over there and was 20 feet behind him. The friend headed in the other direction and as the my husband tried to catch up to him-he heard Cari Strange say to her Athletic Director "I am not taking the f*@# balloons down laughing" My husband very upset at the disrespect of the whole situation and her arrogance told her to shut the f#@* up and that she was out of control and unprofessional. Her Vice principal supposably only heard what my husband said and yelled at my husband " don't talk to my staff that way". My husband responded with "are you kidding me? She refuses to follow laws, so she can have her way for her needs, a parent tries to educate her and offers to buy something else and she laughs at him behind his back and says she's not taking the f&#@ balloons down and you are going to discipline me?" They did not know who my husband was. He informed him he was going to the district with the complaint. 10 minutes later the balloons were taken down. They were not taken down because it was the right thing to do, because they were respectful of people's lives, they were taken down because a picture was taken and they now are going to have a formal complaint against them.
This is about students rights. We hear constantly the selfish feelings of people who "can't believe they can't have balloons". Ignorant people make comments, those that understand and have been given the facts of the seriousness of the life threatening allergy get the fact that their are mylar balloons that can be used, reused so they "are green". A professional teacher who was educated on the facts, told by administrators from the school she was visiting at to take them down , and still refuses.
An important fact readers must remember-the school stated it is latex free-they have a no balloon policy-they expect it from their students and staff to abide by the guidelines-they cannot have another school to come and do something their students are not allowed to do.Students were asking "why can they have balloons on our campus but we can't" There is a big picture here, that affects the physical, emotional and social parts of students lives. Cari Strange could care less.

How sad.. I know there are two sides to every story but it is common knowledge, and had been for several yearS that latex is lethal to many people. I was at a achool where latex balloons were put up for the 5th grade graduation and a teacher just walked by the multipurpose room and became so sick that she had to be transported to the hospital. I cannot imagine any teacher not knowing that latex ie lethal for some studentS. Why would anyone knowingly put another person's health at risk. When I had students in my care that had health issues I always tried to go above and beyond to insure the safety of those students. There is no excuse for this type of unprofessional behavior when the health of a child is at risk.
