Teacher Complaint: Principle Caras - Northmont High School

Recently moving into this school district has been the absolute worst decision that we have EVER made. The way the administration has treated our family has been absolutely incomprehensible. The worst part of it all is that the attitude, the treatment, the sheer lack of consideration for our son and our family starts at the TOP level; (Superintendent Lance) and breeds through to Principle Caras and Vice Principle Kaltenback. Then we get a letter from the Linda Blum, president of the school board that had TYPO’s and incomplete sentences – a total joke. In the meantime, she has blocked receipt of emails to avoid dealing with parent issues.

Here is an example of a situation:
We have taught our son to be truthful, stick up for himself and do the right thing. An incident occurred in which he was getting bullied, he tried to stick up for himself however; in doing do, he got suspended. As a concerned parent we meet with the principle and vice principle– a total waste of time. They won’t hear reason or logic or the truth. They don’t care if my son is getting threatened on a daily basis. They gave the initiator of the fight and my son the same punishment. We try to talk to them, at least try to get school work sent home so he doesn’t get far behind – no they won’t do it. Another incident occurred, very minor and again my son tells the truth and gets in trouble. We try to talk to the administration, they look at us and say “we’re right, you’re wrong, we don’t believe you or your son”. In talking with other parents I find out that once labeled a trouble maker, that’s it – always in trouble. My son is has always loved school, been a very good student with excellent grades. He doesn’t even want to go to school anymore. He has younger siblings and they are begging us to move back to where we were transferred from. We have NEVER been treated like this and I’m asking myself “what year are we in”, “have we stepped back in time with these red neck good old boy leaders” “is this really happening”?

Then I started doing more research and started talking to other parents. I find out – this is common. The administration doesn’t listen to the parents, the athletic department is borderline incompetent, as well as tweedle dee and tweedle dumb principle and vice principle. And this is the same school district that employed teachers like this one (Loren Meadows) that was recently caught barely clothed 17 year old (6/23/2009):

And, this one that was taught at the Northmont Middle School teacher (Jason Simmons) and was sent to prison after sexual relations with a 14 year old (6/20/2008)

Since we have moved here – I feel as if we’ve slipped into the Twilight Zone – we have the bad leading the worse, setting terrible examples for our children and pointing fingers at each other when a problem arises. I am finding that we are not alone. There have been several other families that have not been listened to and basically laughed out of the principles office. However, the problem is that our kids are caught in the cross fires with grades slipping as well as self esteem. What can be done? We need to CLEAN HOUSE!

Typical Northmont all the way. They're constantly harping about student and parent accountability, but they'll have none of that nonsense for themselves. The administration has been an abject failure at accepting any responsibility or accountability for their actions. This complaint mentions Loren Meadows. Meadows screwed up big-time, but accepted responsibility for his actions and paid the price for them. Something his former employers refuse to do. I have more respect for Meadows than I do for Northmont's administration. Instead of "Excellence With Distinction", all those banners should read" We'll Check Into That And Get Back With You", as that seems to be their standard mantra. It's probably a descent school provided you never have an issue and never have occasion to deal with the incompetent leadership.
