Teacher Complaint: Amy Malosky - Rural Retreat High
Mrs. Malosky is a teacher that teaches and rules by being a bully. As head over the JV cheer squad she hands out strikes against the girls like they are cookies. If you miss practice or a game for being sick, STRIKE. If you miss practice or a game to go to a funeral, STRIKE. If you have another school activity going on the same night of a game or practice and there is a scheduling conflict and you happen to pick the other activity instead of cheer, STRIKE. My daughter has two strikes against her for going to another school activity that counted as a test grade and the other one an Exam grade. Malosky was notified ahead of time but it made no difference. Malosky made plans for my daughter to stay after school with another teacher and expected me to just be okay with that. Last time I checked I was the parent and not her and I was the one that made decision as to where my daughter was going to be at all times.
If the cheerleaders are picked up more than 10 minutes late after practice then a strike is threatened. It was so bad during football season that a lot of the girls would wait for their parents to pick them up after practice and once it hit the 10 min mark they would start walking down the street and calling their parents to tell them where they were walking and to just pick them up there. Is that honestly better than Malosky understanding that occasionaly parents are late and she should just suck it up and wait with the girls for their safety. But if you're late being picked up from a game, that's ok, because Maloskey is rarely outside with the girls making sure they are picked up by the right person and safe until that right person gets there. Most times the girls just wonder around the field or gym or even outside in the parking lot because Malosky is too busy inside being social.
If she's in a foul mood she'll take it out on the cheerleaders, making them run 20 laps at one time instead of the normal 5 to 10 they run. Then complaning when they don't do it well enough or fast enough and telling them to just forget the whole thing. Malosky, whom was never a cheerleader in high school is cheer coach. She has no idea what she's doing or how to even behave with kids that are dedicated to cheering and rarely miss for an occasion. The only times my daughter has missed any cheer practice or game is for a school graded activity or circumstances my family and I can't get around. I think she's missed a total of 4 cheer things the entire school year.
Amy Malosky, a horrible cheer coach, has no understanding or compassion for the cheerleaders and what their life outside of school must be like. My next step is to wait and see if my daughter receives another strike for missing another cheer practice or event with a valid reason. If she receives 3 stirkes she's suppose to be kicked off the team. If that happens, then I'm going to the school board and filing a formal complaint. Rural Retreat High School needs Mrs. Malosky removed as Cheer Coach so she can't bully any more girls!!!!

She is very immovable to provide flexibility regarding the student's multiple commitments, why else did my daughter receive 2 strikes for the graded activities that conflicted with the schedule. Why else did one of the cheerleaders have to miss practice to go to a funeral, received a strike have her mother come in and talk to malosky and then quit when malosky wouldn't remove the strike. Why else did one of the girls that missed a game due to being in the hospital and show up with a valide doctor's note receive a strike? I couldn't make this stuff up. The face that you say you don't believe she would be unwilling to provide flixibility regarding multiple commitments either tells me you've never had a daughter as a cheerleader under her or your daughter was involved in nothing else other than cheer and never missed a pracitce a game for any reason. As it stand right now she has a small number of 5 cheerleaders for the winter team. One of those girls is 1/2 strike away from being kicked off the team due to her parents lack of commitment to her daughters cheerleading. Another girl that got lunch detention for two days after having a shouting/cussing match with another girl at school receives NO strike for lunch detention. If you're still around RR you should ask around and see exactly what these cheerleaders are up against with Malosky I think you'll be surprised at what you hear and discover.
I love RR, always will and I'm glad my daugther is attending such a great school. It's just sad with a teacher that already wants to quit teaching and go back to college for computer information is still teaching and coaching and jerking around the cheerleaders.
I hope you get more accurate information.

I had the other cheer coach come up to me at the basketball game tonight that my daugther was cheering in and asking me about my above complaint. If both cheer coaches are in agreement that they'd done the right, good thing and are standing in the right (as well as the fake author of comment #1) then why should Malosky, the other cheer coach or Raymond Freeman (which is probably Maloksy's husband or fellow teacher) care about my complaint? If I'm in the wrong then no one should worry about this in the least. The face that there is a comment that is sooooo completely on the other side of things and that the other cheer coach approached me only validates that there is something to my complaint and they don't like it on the internet for anyone else that might want to see what other people think of Malosky.
