Teacher Complaint: Mary Jane Tukua - Bonsall Elementary

This awful woman is still teaching, and it makes me sick that she is emotionally abusing weak, vulnerable children. She picks out her little stars in her class, the really fast learners. If your child is not one of her chosen, she is cruel and nasty. so sad that the wife of a pastor is like this. Run don't walk( away) from this poor excuse of a teacher.

So true! This woman was terrible. My son kept asking me mommy why does Mrs Tukua not like me? She was my sons first grade teacher. I think she teaches kindergarten now (really scary) I believe the first post was incorrectly entered as she is not a 2nd grade teacher. She also had my friends daughter and was very cruel to her. She would reward her star students with letting them have lunch with her. Some kids were never chosen. It is digusting that a pastors wife would act this way. Avoid this teacher!

Did not have experience with her as a teacher, but i did attend her husbands church for a year. She was famous for walking by people and not even making eye contact. Very strange behavior for someone married to a minister. She was also known for her snippy comments she would make about church members. Would not want her to teach my kids. Had a neighbor that had an unpleasant time with her as a teacher. She seems to favor girls. She gives off this energy as a miserable person who thrives on control.

Mary Jane Tukua is one of the most dedicated teachers we are blessed to have in this District.
The three ladies who have voiced their negative comments above are very much in the minority and, to back up this statement, I refer to the fact that Mary Jane has been nominated several times for the Teacher of the Year Award and actually won the Award in 2006. It takes an extremely high number of votes and nominations to receive this accolade which equates to very many satisfied parents taking the time to write in.
Mary Jane gives over and above the call of duty in her time and effort and has a heart full of love for every child in her classes.
In conclusion, I'd like to add that Mary Jane is an exemplary Pastor's wife and everyone in our congregation loves her.

I was in a Bunco group for several years and several of the moms there also had negative experiences with Mrs Tukua. The important thing to remember is a teacher is not there to play favorites, but to teach and nurture all the children in their classroom. My 3 kids had some wonderful teachers at Bonsall elementary, teachers that cared about ALL children, not just the white, rich kids. It is a teachers job to be impartial and not let their personal opinions dictate how they treat their students. I think Mrs Tukua has some personal issues and should get help. I would not want my grandchild in her class.

I find it interesting that neither Ruth nor Lauren
have any personal experience with MaryJane being their child's teacher but still feel the urge to post their negative opinions based on gossip overheard at a Bunco group and the skewed "eyewitness" accounts from a church attendee. :)
I also think it is ludicrous for Ms. Ruth to accuse MaryJane of favoring "rich, white kids".It is nothing less than slanderous to suggest such a thing.
