Teacher Complaint: Cara Martin - Future Leaders Institute

­­­­­­­­­I am writing to give you an update on a series of events which have occurred involving my daughter Dyia Carlos currently in the 4th grade (Ms. Chang's class). This issue has been unresolved along with another issue from December 2011 and now it has gotten to the point of no results. On more than one occasion Zoey Reynolds has threatened, attempted to bully, turn the class against my daughter, trip her while walking and kicked my daughter Dyia Carlos. I brought this to not only your attention, but the administrative staff and her teacher and still no resolution has been made. I don't know what your methods of controlling student issues are, but when my child is affected or caused mental and bodily harm there is a serious problem to be addressed. Now since I am a working parent I made it clear that I will take the time out my work schedule to accommodate a meeting since Zoey's mother is unemployed, but yet I still have not heard anything from either yourself nor the administrative staff.
As of today Zoey Reynolds continues to threaten my daughter Dyia Carlos and I am not willing to sit down to listen to anyone's side at this point. I am taking this issue to a higher authority and maybe it will prompt you as the Dean of Students to engage yourself fully and address the issues with all parties involved including the parents. If this should happen again I will take additional actions. As a parent I will not stand for my child attending a school in which she feels threatened and unsafe. As per your brief discussion with my mother on Tuesday, January 10 you stated your school has a No Tolerance Policy so now I begin to question does this policy affect all students or do you use prejudice in terms of your favorite students or not? Both myself and my mother made the school aware we wanted to meet with the students and parent of Zoey Reynolds yesterday however I assume either you did not get that message or you felt there was no need to inform me (the parent) a meeting was not necessary. After much consideration I am filing a formal complaint with the Board of Education both the central office and the Charter Schools Office Division.
