Teacher Complaint: Miss Mindy Norman - Forest Hills Hs
On October 15th, 2010, Miss Mindy Norman was speaking to the class about China and its geography. She took information about this topic from a website and asked everyone to take notes by copying most of the information from the Smart Board. Miss Norman would do this almost everyday. Most of the students from the back of the room couldn't see whatever was written on the websites she showed us, so we had to either strain our eyes to be able to take notes, or we had to inconveniently move up to the front to copy it. I had to do this everyday. And when I raised my hand, trying to suggest an idea that would be more convenient for my classmates and I, she saw my hand up and looked the other way, pretending as if she didn't notice me at all.
Then she assigned us homework for the weekend. she gave us the main topic question, and then two extra questions to answer. The students from my class didn't understand if we were supposed to write one essay for the weekend or two. During class, several of my classmates and I asked questions about the homework. Some of the students called out, but most of them(including me) raised our hands. Mindy Norman gave an excuse for not answering our questions by telling us that our class was too loud and she made it clear that she would not take ANY type of questions. So, after class, one of my classmates and I went up to her to ask her about our homework and the exam she handed back to us a few days ago. At first she pretended not to notice us. Then, when we continued asking, she told us that she can't take any questions from us and that she needed to take care of other students. My classmate told Miss Norman that we really need to understand the homework, otherwise we might not earn full credit for the homework when we hand it in on Monday. But she still refused to give us any attention and simply told us that we would do fine. She ignored us throughout the whole period and still refused to help us understand the homework.
