Teacher Complaint: Bruce Doolittle - Westwood H S
Mr. Doolittle is an incompetent teacher with mood swings and arbitrary unfair grading. During his Pre-AP World History classes he consistently alienates students and does not adequately prepare them for the shared assessments. Although he tries to teach, his 10-year-old notes from Japan do not convey the message in a clear and convincing manner. He forces students to complete notes and homework his way, scolding the students in class if they do not pay attention or do things the way he prefers. Recently Mr. Doolittle assigned a quiz that was unfair to the students. Although the class average was around 30, Mr. Doolittle offered a measly curve that did not push the majority of the class above passing. He asserts that the quiz was open note, and therefore acceptably difficult. He expects us to do the homework in our own time, but we rarely receive guidance or a push in the right direction. He simply gives us papers that he does not even proofread beforehand, and sometimes even gives out 1/2 or 1/4 sheets that are a disaster to organization. Only after the majority of the class miserably fails the quiz does he tell us what he expects. Finally, Mr. Doolittle appears to have a partiality to women, and also makes his class exceptionally difficult, citing the "Pre-AP" nature of the class. Juniors who have taken AP United States History have reported that their previous class was easier than this ridiculous "Pre-AP" Class that Mr. Doolittle teaches.
