Teacher Complaint: Mrs. Brogan - Elms Elementary School
My son has recently developed a tendency to overlook matters when he is the one being wronged. I first realized that there was something the matter when I would ask him throughout the year how he liked his class/teacher and he would reluctantly respond that it's fine with a slight look of disappointment. In previous years, my son would rave about how wonderful his teacher is and loves school but this year has been different. He has not said anything positive about his teacher.
At the beginning of the year, I met Mrs. Brogan at the Parent/Teacher meeting. Although, my gut instinct told me that something wasn't right, I couldn't pinpoint it so I shrugged those feelings aside. Her demeanor was very cold and basically told me that my son was doing well in class in a frank and matter of fact tone which struck me as odd. My suspicions grew further when I received a complaint against my son for the first time about his misconduct in class. Another complaint came a few days later which was alarming to say the least. I was especially shocked since my son has never had a behavioral problem.
When I would confront my son about the notes, he would accept the blame and never spoke against his teacher's accusations. Only recently, has he chosen to express to me that Mrs. Brogan has been treating him unfairly all year long. And that when classmates pick on him or have even hit him, she does nothing about it. When he complains to her, she accuses him of lying and does nothing! He also complains that she makes fun of him and laughs at him which hurts his feelings.
Never has my son ever had any issues or complaints against his teachers until this year. He's only chosen to tell me now that the school year's over and is moving onto to the next grade. Which by the way, he does so with bitter resentment towards school. What do you do when your 9 year-old tells you that he no longer likes school anymore because of his teacher! I am furious and appauled at Mrs. Brogan's behavior, unfair treatment and lack of professionalism.
I am solely posting this to help other parents. If your child has Mrs. Brogan and either comes home with a behavior sheet, complains against his teacher or attitude towards school, please find out early on what is truly happening.
