Teacher Complaint: Judy Kaupp - Kapolei High School
Since day one of this school year my daughter has learned absolutely nothing in her 10th grade English class. She is telling me that she is not learning anything throughout the whole class time. A matter of fact some students are not complaining about it in the community. It is a big problem, more than parents and students realize. The class is actually taught more through an online website called, "Englishgrammer101." Not to be optimistic or violating self-opinion though, the teacher is a bit out of shape. She is in no health condition to teach a big group of 15 year olds who my daughter says give her a headache. She is not a bad teacher at all in fact, I've met her before. The problem is Hawai'i's education is as bad as it gets and Kapolei High School is at the bottom of the list for education in Hawai'i. The school is only 11 years old but they have the lowest scores in all three areas of learning, math, science, and english. My daughter tells me she is working to take care of her mother and her sister who are also in bad health conditions. The teacher has to use a scooter chair just to get around. My daughter is well-disciplined and is a 4.0 student. When she complains, she does not lie. The problem in this situation is that the teacher should not be teaching this age group. Rather teaching in a different area or some place else that her knowledge could be more useful. While my daughter and other students just talk or play on their electronic devices the teacher does nothing about it.
