I normally enjoy the Orchesis dance concerts, but when I saw tonight's show, I was somewhat saddened by what I saw. The performances the kids in your dance workshop did were cute and well-done. A couple of the dances Orchesis members did were good, but most of the dances Orchesis did were terrible! I was amazed. Usually, Orchesis is great. They're supposed to be the best dancers from WHS. If the members you've got are the best there are at WHS, then, Orchesis is in deep trouble and in bad shape. It's as if Orchesis has gone down hill. As the teacher in charge of Orchesis, you need to figure out where the problem is and fix it. I noticed one very apparent problem, although I'm sure there are many more. Many of the Orchesis members didn't seem enthusiastic about the dances they had to perform. They didn't seem happy to be dancing and lacked passion for what they did. That's sad if they're no longer passionate about dancing. Due to their lack of passion for what they were doing, they lacked creativity. The dances either mimicked the lyrics to the song they were dancing to or were just the same few moves copied over and over again. That lead to some pretty awful dances. I can turn on my TV or go to any place that teaches dance lessons in the Wheeling area and see dances that are better than what I saw tonight. As a dancer, I know of what I speak. No passion+repeating the same few movements+no motivation+no enthusiasm+no joy or happiness in what your doing=one bad performance. Other than the dances the workshop kids did, tonight was a disappointment and a real tragedy. It was one step from disastrous. I hope Orchesis improves and does better at their next few performances.
