Teacher Complaint: Principal Deborah Meyers - Washington Middle School
Here we go again. I had made a complaint here on TeacherComplaints.com, on March 5th, 2010 about an incident with my son and the administration of West Aurora Il school dist. 129. I had mentioned in the posting about a hearing recommending expulsion for my 10 year old son. He had brought a pocket knife to school. I contended that expulsion was a very harsh penalty. Since my son wasn't in any prior trouble, there wasn't any basis to recommend the maximum penalty. There are other options as stated in the elementary handbook sd129.org. The arrogant officials of the administration insisted that the law only provides for expulsion.They apparently can't read, or they are liars. There are other penalties listed, including in school suspension for elementary school children PAGE 25 A-2 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HANDBOOK SD129.ORG. The results of the hearing for expulsion have not been given to me as of yet. So far my son has been suspended for 10 days (also excessive). I don't have very much confidence in the results, since the administration has demonstrated it's revenge toward me for speaking out on this matter,(I made calls and sent faxes to them, and made a posting at this web site). This administration has now suspended my other son who is in Washington Middle School in the same district. He is suspended for 5 days. A result of a witch hunt, that the bullies (officials) claim turned up a lighter in his locker which was shared and could have been anyones, or it was planted as my son suggests. The bullies (officials) also "discovered" song lyrics from Hip Hop music they claim are connected to gangs. Coincidently, this witch hunt was occuring at the very same time my son and my wife were at the hearing. Apparently they are relaying a message not to disagree or speak out against them. They are unaware of the 1st amendment or maybe they think it only applies to them. Brett Burton Principal of Nicholson Elementary School even attempted to keep me from attending the hearing, telling me not to bother coming, (to the hearing)nobody ever wins with them guys (the board members). When you decide to enroll your children in West Aurora School District 129, just shut your mouth and bend over!! As it turned out, I wasn't able to attend the hearing. I asked them to postpone it until next week, which they rapidly denied. I was unaware that they already had a plan for the witch hunt on my other son. This administration needs to be investigated. People like them should not be in charge of our children's future education. Instead of them throwing the book at young kids who have never been in trouble before, bad judge ment yes, but that is expected from time to time. The book should be thrown at a bunch of Lunkheads,who use their positions to take advantage and hurt people. If there are people who are in agreement with me on these issues, please help me to circulate this posting as i'm not very handy using the computer. Also i'm searching for an attorney.
