Teacher Complaint: Mrs. Charlamange - Como Elementary School
The principle at Como elementary is not the one for the job. Today I tried to take cupcakes into my son and his classmates for valentines day and was rejected at the door. I was told they are not doing that, so they can make up for missed school days. If i am correct that's what calamity days are for, and columbus public has not hit there limit yet. Why should these children have the fun taken away from passing out valentines cards and candy, because the principle feels the need for them to make up work that's not nessesary. It's been a tradition since we were children to have that little bit of time at the end of the day to pass out valentine's and candy, to see who made the best box etc. This being my child's last year in elementary he won't get the oppertunity to do so again. She even took this away from the the pre-k and kindergardner's which would have been their first time. She also no longer allows the kid's to play football on a grassy field during recess. She talk's to the children as if they were grown adults.She make's these children not want to go to school because they can't even get a little bit of enjoyment on day's like today when they do go. Small celabration's for a child's bithday aren't even allowed, because it is concidered a class disruption. If the teacher does not have an issue with it why should a principle who's not even in the room care. My point is if a kid can't be a kid and have fun doing what's the point. I just feel this principle is not the one who should ruining our children's memories of being in elementary school, when they should be able to look back and say I had fun in elementary school, not that they weren't allowed to do anything. I have been taking children to and from this school for 11 yearsand this is the first year this has happened, I
also found out that she cancelled the valentine's dance too, which is not fair to our children, who have planned on going to it. I feel she need's to be removed from being a elementary principle, because principle's are there to but a smile on our children's faces and she does just the opposite.
