Teacher Complaint: Lindsey Cope - Hayesville Elementary

Lindsey Cope is my child's music teacher. According to my child and at least 9 other classmates all tell the same story. That a little boy in their class was being disruptive and disrespectful to the teacher. Ms. Cope tied the boy to a chair, put tape on his mouth, and also slapped the boy in the face. To make it all worse she then told the 20 students that "This was their little secret" and they were not to tell anyone about it or they would be in big trouble.

That is child abuse, I don't care what the little boy did you do not tie a kid up.

You REALLY should get your facts straight before posting something like this on the Internet. You don't have all the facts and you're taking the word of a child. I'm not saying your child is lying, but just MAYBE, it's a bit stretched. THREE of our kids have had Ms. Cope in the past and ALL of them love her, I don't believe these accusations for one second and until proven YOU should not be adding to the slander or a good person. What ever happened to "judge not lest ye be judged"? Grow up.

The main concern has to be the children and if there is any chance that this is true she should be fired. The next child might be hurt worse.Furthermore,Cld,why would 9 children lie about a teacher especially first graders....

So you're saying, in your opinion, that anyone no matter what the accusation "if there is any chance that this is true" that person should be punished? That is an uneducated statement to make. I understand protecting our children at all cost but...have you every been accused of doing something you didn't do? Unfortunately even innocent children are capable of "telling stories". Put yourself in the place of any teacher, or any person in the place of a public figure. One of the unfortunate results of free speech (and I am NOT speaking against free speech because I am afforded that privilege at this very moment and will probably offend SOMEONE) combined with the internet CAN be an instant and unfiltered publication of ignorance. Also, unfortunately, when this outrageous accusation is proven to be untrue her professional career is forever tarnished. Somewhere, this will always be a public record. She will always have this in the back of her mind and in some way, whether she realizes it or not, she will lose a little trust. She'll lose trust in children and even in the parents. Because she is strong and faithful she will grow from this, thank God, but it was needless, fruitless and pointless occurrence in my opinion. Teachers don't get paid enough to put up with crap like this. :-)

donner - no, if she's found guilty, then she should be punished. What I was saying was, comments like that shouldn't be posted. She's already being judged as if she was guilty when NO DETERMINATION has yet been made. I'm also not saying the children were lying, but small town, small minds.. rumors spread like WILD FIRE here when people have nothing else to tlak about it. It isn't my place or her's or ANYONE's to judge without having ALL the facts, THAT is what I was saying. There's another website that's already saying she should be fired and for what... a RUMOR? It's nothing but obsurd and offensive. This simple incident could RUIN her career, should it be proven false. And for what, some kid that may not like her as a teacher? Again, let's just hear ALL of the facts and NOT rumors before deciding to lynch her. <end rant>

Wow! Just WOW! It's no wonder the world is as bad as it is. My mother and father gave full permission to act in their place if punishment was deemed necessary. I knew what to expect if I didn't behave or was disrespectful to the teacher. Then I got it again at home. Knowing this teacher for the 5 years that I did, I find it more believable that something has been set up here. Even if not...I could only believe that she took quite a bit from this young student to get to this point. I can also only imagine that if this child was disrespectful to her, then the child MUST be able to intimidate the other classmates into doing whatever they wanted. Poor teachers...they don't stand a chance anymore in this liberal, atheistic, politically correct nation.

not malicious gossip - FACT!
Teacher should be fired. Tying a kid up is NEVER the way to handle this. Wait til it comes out the child is disabled. She should be stripped of her "teacher of the year" award and fired and lose her license to teach FOREVER.
