Teacher Complaint: Miss. Callinan - Leffingwell Elementary.
Miss. Callinan from what I know of her seems like a nice person. She's never been mean that I've seen and the kids usually like her. However, I along with many other parents do not think she is a good teacher just because she is nice. She lacks major communication skills with the parents. With this teacher you need weekly conferences basically to know anything about what your child is doing in class. (Many parents have said they have had to do this)With my child and from what other parents tell me, she says at parent/teacher conferences that the they are doing well in all subjects, yet when awards ceremonies come up the children are not getting awards. Also, this school participates in Accelerated Reading programs. A lot of the other teachers have all of their students meeting their goals and most others have at least half of their class if not more meeting the goals. Miss. Callinan had 4 kids out of the entire class meet their goal. If the other teachers can get their kids to meet the goals it tells me it's the teacher and not the students. Like I said nice lady just not a very good communicator and doesn't take responsibility when called out on something. She has many times blamed the students for not relaying messages to parents. She is way too comfortable in her position.
