I am sorry this is so long, but there is alot I need to say. The sad thing is that I bet I will write more here than I will for the entire year for her class. I thought Mrs. Horst was just strict the first day then she started to humilate students pretty often. One girl was real shy and the teacher forced the girl to stand up for like four solid minutes until the teacher thought the girl was talking loud enough. the girl was in tears. I used to really like English but now I hate it. I am realy scared that she'll call on me and humiliate me too. What makes it even worse is that if you are offended after she does one of these awful things, she picks on you even more. She embarassed one boy who is really shy by saying that if he looked at a girl one way, we could imply that he was in love with her. She said that she used him just as an exacmple, cbut he was really upset.Even though he was upset and turned red and almost cried, she said, "Thanks for being a sport, you're not offended right?" That's kind of her trick, sayitrying to make the mean things she says seem like a joke so if someone is offended, they seem like the jerk when she is really the jerk. So when he wouldn't say that it was funny and even though he didn't say anythign else about it, she picke don him and made him go out in the hall where she talked to him for two or three minutes which made things worse. One of the worst things is that she tells parents that kids can't be trusted. On her site she tells parents that, If your student comes home and says I'm doing something wrong, talk to me first because there are two sides to every story." I think that when she says this, she really is trying to tell parents that all teenagers are liars and not to every believe us if we tell our parents that Mrs. H does something crazy. One day she freaked out and got super super mad and she yelled at us so loud that a friend of mine in the class next door said that they all heard her and the teacher in that room was like, "Oh no!" Ms Horst is a bully and picks on kids. It seems like she hates teaching and would rather do anything else. I know of a bunch of kids who hate Englsh because of her. I used to love it but she punihes kids who like English by giving them extra work but not telling us that we have to do it for real. That sounds confusing because it is. She'll give an assignment and then say, "I know some of you are no good at English and would rather poke your eyes out than do english so you just do the basic assignment but you guys who are good at english and you know who you are, you have to do extra and if you don't do the extra you will lose points." That is pretty crazy right? How are we supposed to know if we are one of the good ones and it doen't seem fair that if we are good, we have to do more work even though the work isn't eduational but just busy work. Our student teacher used to ask the class to raise our hands and we would answer questions, but horst almsot never lets us students do much of anything because she can be the only one who ever talks. I don't know what she wants from me and I don't know what she expects. What is good enough? She complains about handwriting but then she won't let us type our assignments. My brother calls the situation a cach 22. Darned if you do darned if you don't. She is totally unpredicatble and she is honestly crazy. She gets furious really fast and can turn on a student just like that. The way she treated the student teacher was a pretty good example of how she treated us too. Almost all of the other kids are either scared of her or really hate her. I don't have to like a teacher, but she makes all of our lives miserable and she seems to like it. each class is like a small war and she comes in as though we are her enemies.
I know I m not a great writer and have alot to learn, but she should not be teaching anything at all. She especially should not teach English though. She ends sentences with the word at pretty often. Example would be, "I asked him where he was at." I even know that is horrible grammar. Once, a kid asked her about a movie she had seen called the ides of march and if the movie had stuff about Julius Caeser and the guy who stabbed him and Horst was like, "I don't read much." She treats us like we are in kindergarden and the btom line is that we don't learn much about English at all. We spend most of our time listening to her elcture us about what a great teacher she is and reading her very long and elaborate directions for really simple things like picking up a colored pencil. I've heard of a bunch of kids who are scared to go to class and one of my friends cries every night and gets stomach aches. I don't think I was supposed to hear this, but I heard Horst say about a student once that she was an attention whore. That's also pretty wrong issn't it?
Some people may say that HOrst is just being strict but other teachers are strict she is just mean. She has a sign in her classroom that says that learning is not fun and if you want fun go to a party. Tha tis the one thing about her tha tis predicatable, when I waLk in the class, I know for sure that I will not have any fun. that is gauranteed. I also won't learn anything useful and will probably watch at least one person be humilated and bullied. Another one of her favorite sayings is, "COme on y ou guys you should know this, it is sooo easy" Well, Id din't know it one time and I felt really dumb after that. Or if a kid doesn't know something, she'll make the kid stand there until the kid figures it out. That whole thing can take 3 or 4 minutes. She says things like, "Can you not read English? What should you do now? Did you not pay attention? " etc. She is flat out mean. The only good thing about her class is that each day I am in it, it means that I have one less day I ever have to see her again. After i am done with the class I can liv emy life but I feel good and that the world is more fair knowing that she has to live with herself every day and that must be realy awful I bet. Writing this is relly risky becayse she would be the paranoid type who would read it and then act like the spanish inquisition until she found out who wrote it. I wish more kids an dparets woudl write about this problem with her so she can get some mental health help and also so we can have a teacher who knows mmore about literature and writing and who is not a bully.
She sometimes makes us be totally silent and takes away points if a student does'nt have all their supplies. I never know what she'll do or when and how bad it will be. To make things even worse, my parental unit told me that she runs a parenting class which she advertised during the school's open house. that's kinda weird right?


Even though we're 7th graders she makes a bunch of students do handwriting practice several times a week. The first few weeks of school all we did was learn about all of her rules and we still haven't done much actual english like reading or writing. we spend most of our class time writing down exactly what she writes on the board.
She was really mean to the student teacher and would say things like, "Miss M. doesn't know what she is doing," in front of the whole class. One day a few weeks ago, I noticed she was really being mean to the student teacher and the next day, the student teacher didn't come back. I don't know what happened for sure, but the student teacher seemed like a nice lady and like she knew what she was doing. She was the only thing that stood between mrs. h and us and I miss the fact that she treated us students like human beings, not animals or naughty babies like Horst does. If she treats a student teacher like that you can see how she does'nt care who she is mean to. My brother says that the worst thing you can say about a teacher unless they do something illegal and she hasn't done anything illegal, is that they are unprofesionl. So I'm sayin git. She is unprofessional because she is not good at English, she is angry and instead of teaching she spends mos tof her time telling us what to do and humiliating students. Please do something.
