Teacher Complaint: Ms. Amy Prater - Soddy Daisy High School

I have been working with this teacher for my sons grades. She has been so willing to help from what it seemed last month. she suggested he go speak with the graduation counselor Mr. Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins did have my son in for the meeting and was advised by Mr. Jenkins to go to Mrs. Prater and obtain the copies of assignments that my son had zeros on so he could complete prior to christamas break as my son has been going through a very difficult time due to his father being over in Iraq/Afganistan/Kuwait as an infantry soldier and other things that are causing depression with my son. We have worked with the school counselors, outside therapists and now Mr. Jenkins. When my son went in to Mrs. praters class today to do as mr. Jenkins told him. He asked for the assisgnements and she looked down at him in front of the class and said it would be a dis service doe her to give him those assignments. she is known to make some if not most students uncomfortable with her off the cuff comments. She is placing my child in an embarassing situation when he is already depressed and seems to have no concern for him or what Mr. jenkins said...seeing as though she referred him to Mr, Jenkins, she should follow that lead. i dont get timely reponses from this teacher. This teacher is known for being immature and I am considering changing my sons schools as this is teacher # 2 that ihave had to deak with. If teachers dont love to see kids succeed and they dont have a good attitude they should be fired or find another profession. I feel sorry for any child in my sons circumstances that will have to deall with this woman in the future.

You know, my husband is also in the military. It is hard for my kids when is away. But I would never allow it to used as an excuse as to why they got zeroes on their schoolwork! It sucks that your son's dad is not home, buy should that mean he gets a free pass or special do-overs on work he failed to do the first time?

The teacher is not at fault here; your son is. And you blaming the teacher is ridiculous.
