Teacher Complaint: Mr. Steve A Duffey - Shawswick Middle School
I'm at a loss at what to do for my son. Up until this year, he's
gotten good grades and enjoyed school, but this year he is failing
most of his classes and comes home in tears on an almost daily basis.
He's withdrawn and angry and this is NOT his normal demeanor. His
last period class at Shawswick Middle School in Bedford, IN is taught
by Mr. Steve A Duffey and this is the teacher we are having so much
trouble with. Dean and Mr. Duffey had a disagreement at the beginning
of the year, and since then there is no way to please him. Even when
Dean's papers are correct, they are marked wrong, he's arbitrarily
given demerits (on the brink of suspension because of them) and is
repeatedly assigned extra work as punishment. Dean has asked Mr.
Duffey for help previously on work he didn't understand and was told
that it was his problem to figure it out.
This one teacher has affected all of Dean's work and he will probably
fail 6th grade because of this. I don't know why Mr. Duffey is
allowed to continue to work at this school. Dean is not the first
student to be harassed, in fact he's only one in a long list of
students.
I try to bring it up to the principal and he says "Talk to Mr.
Duffey". I've tried that. All I get from him is how horrible my son
is and everythings Dean's fault. My sons not perfect, but this is not
all his fault.
