Teacher Complaint: Patti Cloninger - North Gaston High
Well first of all I've already graduated but I thought I would share my knowledge with current or future North Gaston Students, as well as the school board. This teacher is the world's worst teacher alive. I had Patti Cloninger for alegbra II the 2nd sememster of my Junior year; first of all when you first walk into the room she has this snobby way of holding her self and talking that just screams "I'm going to make your life hell and there's nothing you can do about it!" First she warns you that the class is fast pace, now don't get me wrong, the course is fast pace; but not too fast pace that you can't ask for help during class; and that you need to ask questions during the lesson if you have problems, but if you need addional help, you will have to stay after class. Now first of all when you DO ask questions in her class she always answers your question with a question such as Student:"How do I do this?" Cloninger:"How do you think you it, what was I saying earlier?" Student:"I'm not sure, I asked you earlier and you told me the same thing you just told me." Cloninger:"Well then you should have been paying more attention." How are students suppose to learn like this? Honestly?? This teacher never helped me once with one problem in that class, and I had never been a great math student but I always put forth the effort. I tried staying after school every chance I got to try to learn but she was never willing to help me, she just kinda brushed me off. I ended up failing terribly, so did most of the students in that class. People who were always above average students through high school either failed or barely passed. The next semester I had theatre arts as an elective, and tried to get it switched to Alegrea II with a different teacher, but the CROOKED administrater, Mrs. Ried, would not allow it. She made me wait until the next year, my senoir year, before I can take it again. Which messed up my whole path way for college, so watch out Juniors taking Algebra II your 2nd sememster, or waiting until your senior year to take it!! This is the sorriest excuse for a role model, isn't that what teachers are suppose to be? Not only inform you, teach you, and enlighten you, but also show you what kind of person you should be. You shouldn't have to hate the people who teach you, but cold teachers like Patti Cloninger are the reason young teens don't respect or trust thier teachers or schools, or even adults for that matter. I honestly believe Patti Cloninger should not teach at all.
