Teacher Complaint: Mrs. Aben - Fenton Intermediate School
My son is 5 years old. Last year he was put into a special education type class for pre school, due to the fact that he had speech problems and was hyperactive(later diagnosed with ADHD). I had such relief as a parent to know there was somebody who knew what they were doing in our school district, and that my sons issues were more common than I thought. He has a wonderful teacher Mrs. Conroy and speech therapist. They communicated with us soo well.
Then this last year he started in "early fives" basically pre kindergarden, becuase we knew he would still have difficulty adjusting to school and still needed more "special attention" as it were.
This year has been nothing but hell. This years teacher seemed good at first. Then months after he started, we found out she was pregnant. (This teacher doesn't communicate with parents at all, unanswered questions, no reply to notes sent in my sons bag). The problems started early January 2010. My son has been sent to the office more than 4 times due to his "itching condition". My son suffers from sever eczema which gets worse with stress. THE TEACHER KEEPS TELLING MY SON HE HAS CHICKENPOX! Clearly she has NO IDEA what chickenpox look like. And I heard from another school employee, that she said she didn't want to get anything(since she was pregnant)...due sometime in the next month or two.
Not only that, she called protective service on my ex husband. After my rambunctious son bruised his back running around the house one day. My ex husband would NEVER hurt my son. As he wouldn't have custody of him if that were the case.
So I feel my son has been discriminated against, due to the fact that he is adhd and is in special education.
This teacher has caused nothing but trouble for my son. He comes home crying sometimes....telling us he has "chickenpox". Thank you Ms. Aben for that tidbit you put in my childs head. Now he thinks he has something wrong with him. Not only that, he and my whole family has had to go through a rather embarrassing and humiliating interviews with the state of michigan.
This teacher also has missed more time than all the students combined for doctors appts. and other silly stuff! Not only that, but she is missing the last two months of school to have this child. I understand that she is concerned for her unborn child. Does this anal retentive woman HAVE TO BE TEACHING SPECIAL EDUCATION CLASS?! Clearly anyone else would have been more qualified to teach emotionally unstable, speech disabled kids.
All I hear from my son and from others at the school is that she doesn't want her or her baby "catching" anything.
As nit picky and snobby as this teacher is, she has NO BUSINESS teaching children in special education.
And with this said, I won't stop filing complaints until she finds another grade to teach.
