Teacher Complaint: Debbie Hansen & Kerry Husky - Evening Shade Elem. School
My 6 yr old son was threatened with a "paddling" by his teacher Mrs. Hansen. It appears lately he has been having trouble paying attention, and this was her response. Not only did she threaten to physically punish him for this, she told him I had given her permission to do so. After I had assured him one day I never would. When confronted with this, she readily admitted to doing it. When the complaint was taken to the principle, she saw nothing wrong with her threatening my son, and asked "what would you have her do?" and continued to smirk and giggle to herself during this conversation like she found it highly humorous. Mrs. Hansen decided to then point out my child was struggling with reading (which I find to be a surprise. I've heard him read and she said he was reading well at our parent teacher conference just a few wks ago) and then said I would hate to remand him. 1) his report card reflects a's and b's 2) almost all of his paper work reflects good grades and 3) at this parent teacher conference she never mentioned this. Even the inability to focus was mentioned in passing. So I got the vibe that not only had she threatened my son she was threatening me with holding him back. And it appears Ms. Husky endorses this behavior on threatening children for the most minor things. I am also curious as to how often she has used this tactic to keep control over class, which corporal punishment should be a last resort. Since starting this school in august (he attended another school in a neighboring county) he has had some changes in personality and behavior. I think I have found out why. I will be filing formal complaints on Kerry husky and Debbie Hansen, going to the school board, superintendent and the PTO. Terrorizing my child because she doesn't have the ability to teach small children effectively will never be acceptable and I will make sure she doesn't do it ever again.

Having trouble focusing, my butt. Why are you taking your child out of the equation here? Your CHILD'S behavior is the issue here, not the teacher. Your kid gets a free pass while you direct your anger at another adult. Wonderful.
Your child owes the teacher an apology for his behavior and a promise that his behavior will not intefere with her teaching the OTHER chidren in the class. I'm betting that doesn't happen ...
