(Art Institute) This instructor does not care about what he teaches, or his students. His comments to posts are worthless and are not helpful. If you want to learn about animation, he will tell you to go google it up, then post what you find to the Discussion Question. Grading is only done based on the submission deadline, not about content or quality, and not based on the complexity of the project. If he has beef with you these other things will matter.
Expect a failing grade if you want to attend his class, or expect not to learn anything when you finish his class and start applying for a job. Most animation basics are common sense that don't require buying his book.
You will be glued to the monitor every day just to see if you meet the grading criteria even if your going to school part time. Expect to have no life meeting the grading specs because a few days late and you will receive -100% for being late, no exceptions.
Expect to be doing a lot of web quests researching about animation, instead of practicing how to do the animation with a 3d package. Your problems that arise when animating are yours to deal with with the help of your students. Expect a class that is trying to learn animation grading your own work, no tutorials of projects how to animate will be given from this instructor. He might re-direct you to google to find it on your own, then give you a bad grade for submitting late because you will spend more time learning on your own.
This instructor is a fraud, a poser for being a professional, but if you look at how much knowledge he has & shares in class, its all recopied text that is out dated. Expect this instructor to give you questions asking how the industry is doing now, and what are the most popular software that is used to animate these days.

[The facilitator will assign a character description to you. You'll work on the description for the rest of the course and model the character. Discuss the description with the person who has written it in detail. Identify the information gaps, and finalize the character description.]
However as of the day the assignment was actually due, at 2:57pm he had still not assigned any of us a character description to work on. When I addressed the matter both in class and through email, this was his response to me.
“I would appreciate it if you would communicate with me without the attitude in the future. It isn’t helpful to either of us.
When any problems arise, I expect you to deal with them professionally. You could have simply contacted me to say that you did not have what you needed to complete the assignment, that you would needed to know which character you would be working with, and that you would need more time to complete the assignment. That is a problem that is easily solved. I have already granted you that extension.
You chose instead to do something different than what the assignment indicated. As a result you will need to do a second set of model sheets.”
As I said, I currently work in Administration for the same Corporation that owns The Art Institutes, and before further addressing this issue with the instructor, as I was still not getting a response in the classroom itself, I asked my Academic Counselor what the most appropriate way to handle this was. You see his response to me above.
Also, though I may have started the assignment for fear of losing credit for tardiness and being incorrect in what that assignment was (because it had not yet been facilitated) it was removed from the classroom and I was given absolutely no credit for the time and work I put into that.
So, my question in regards to this instructor is, Who is the Real Professional here? He makes a mistake, doesn’t allow us the appropriate time to make up for his tardiness and then calls me unprofessional? This isn’t a question of fraud, this is just a question of maturity.
I don’t believe this individual should be in an authoritative position or in charge of individuals until he can have his own professionalism in check.
