Teacher Complaint: Mrs. O'connor - Southmoor Elementary School
My son is in the second grade and in the two years he has attended school ,there has never been a behavioral issue with him. In fact it has been quite the opposite with former teachers and parents alike praising my child with great reports. However since the new school year has started with O'Connor a new teacher to Southmoor as well,there has been problems every other day with my child getting yellow slips for behavior. All of which seem petty such as, " He went to the bathroom or replied to a student sitting next to him whom was asking to borrow his crayons or he bounced a ball after the bell rang. Just petty things that shouldn't be given the time of day, he gets in trouble for. It seems as if she is just looking for a reason to give him a bad report.I feel too much time and attention is being focused on this teachers RIGID expectations of her class instead of positive things and learning! My son is an intelligent child and is advanced in reading and math but i fear a year with this perfectionist teacher of his will decrease his enthusiasm for school and squander away his advantages of being advanced!Also his class is very over crowded with 31 students and counting! I believe O'Connor is overwhelmed and a drill sergeant she is a control freak and is robbing poor 7yr old kids of their joy of being just that a "KID". She has stated herself "I am a perfectionist" well kids aren't perfect and if you set up a system that holds them to that standard, they are therebye set up to fail! I am growing tired of this teacher and her obvious flawed system of expectations.CLUE if most of the class has yellow slips for behavior at the end of the day maybe it's not them. COULD IT BE Mrs O'Connor???? I just want the year to be over already so i can get my son far away from this woman. I think her teaching years should end it's time to retire!I may file a complaint with the school board because i have heard she had alot of parental complaints against her at the last school she worked at also.Unfortunately it appears she's just being recycled through the DPS system
