Teacher Complaint: Carol-ann Pryor - Lynbrook Shs
Carol-Ann Pryor makes the tests in her 9th grade Honors Biology class much more difficult than those of the other Honors Biology teacher, putting the students in Pryor's classes at an inherent disadvantage. While students with lower school ranks score in the high-90s on tests given by the other Honors Biology teacher, the HIGHEST test grade for Pryor (who has the valedictorian and salutatorian of Lynbrook South Middle School in her class) is typically 90-92. This is simply unfair, and her harsh and absurd grading puts her students at a much greater disadvantage and tarnishes their transcripts, while less intelligent students with the other teacher receive higher grades. We need a standardization within Biology across the board, regardless of who one's teacher is, so that equal amounts of effort yield approximately the same grades. When the valedictorian and salutatorian of are struggling to receive test grades above a 92, yet all of their other subject grades are in the mid/high-90s, you know something is wrong here. Pryor should NOT be able to get away with this, and she needs to realize that her test average is ABSURDLY low. Some students deserve to score in the high-90s on her tests, and the fact that this is not occurring shows that she is not teaching the material that she is testing on. This is harming students' grades, and Pryor should NOT be allowed to get away with this, especially considering the fact that the test scores in the other teacher's classes are SIGNIFICANTLY higher.
