Teacher Complaint: Chris Zarr - Meridian High School

I have been in receipt of harassing text messages from a drama teacher from Meridian High School. She obtained my private cell number via accessing her ex husband's cell without permission.

My cell service provider does not provide the feature of blocking text messages from select numbers. Due to that inability to block her texts, the successive texts arrive between the hours of 9PM and 4AM and in groupings of anywhere from a single text to multiples of 10. The texts run the gamut from respresentation of geninune concern to taunting to accusatory to threats to incoherent ramblings. Those text have been responded to with a request asking her not to contact me.

To date, I have not filed a police report, but today that changes. After period of silence, Chris Zarr has crossed boundaries any self respecting person should have. She has admitted to breaking into her ex husband's residence, taking a photo album of myself and distributed those pictures. Additionally, it would appear that she accessed her minor child's myspace in order to contact my minor daugther. The message that was sent contained accusatory ramblings about her ex husband. The message was said to be sent by one of her minor child's friend; however, no friends can access the account. Late last night, Chris began harassing me again with picture mail.

I have great concern that an adult individual who has been arrested for domestic battery and who exihibits stalking behavior is allowed to teach minor children.

As a former student of Ms. Zarr's from North Carolina, all I can attest to is what an amazing teacher she was (and I would assume, still is). Chris Zarr is what every parent should want in a teacher - hardworking, dedicated, motivational and inspirational. She spent countless hours in and outside of the classroom, teaching and mentoring. She was my favorite teacher in high school and played a positive role in the adult I have become.

Ms. Zarr demonstrated the utmost professionalism in school, whatever happened in her personal life, she never brought it to school. It's unfortunate to see something like this, especially about someone I respect so much. This is a personal matter and should not be exploited in this way.

Ms. Zarr was an asset to the North Carolina School System - she was voted teacher of the year. She was heavily involved in the local community, bringing together educators from nearby schools to highlight and celebrate the arts. Educators like Ms. Zarr are hard to come by, and losing her to a smear campaign like this would be a terrible mistake. We should judge our teachers by their work, not by their personal life. Ms. Zarr, I support you 100% and wish you the best. You truly are an asset to your students and to your community.
