Teacher Complaint: Elizabeth Beatty - Golden Springs Elementary School
My son was in a fight on Thursday, August 26th with a fellow student who had attempted to trip him and later kicked him in the back on the playground. After meeting with the Principal, it was decided that out-of-school suspension was not necessary for either student. In spite of the Principal's decision, the teacher felt it necessary to still provide counseling to my son by telling him: he was irresponsible. In a parent conference today, I explained to the teacher that my child is taught that if someone hits you and you feel threaten, then you defend yourself. The teacher's remark was "what are you teaching your child" and "you teaching him to be a bully." The Principal interrupted and said that "Bullying" is not the case in this situation. Teacher continued to question my family moral values. As the Principal realize the situation was escalating, she ended the conference. As the teacher walked out, her last comment was "they are so unfortunate" in front of my son.
This teacher has gone far and beyond disrespectful to the point of where it is verbally abusive and insulting to my son and me. To question one's value is disrespectful in itself. However, to call my husband and I "unfortunate" is unprofessional and displays the lack of respectful others beliefs and values. This teacher should be formally reprimanded for her verbal insults to a parent.
