Teacher Complaint: Lorre Gifford - William Penn Charter School
I had Ms. Lorre Gifford as a teacher for AP Physics C in St. Petersburg Florida during the 2005-2006 academic year. She moved to William Penn Charter school the following year. I believe that she poses a significant threat to the psychological integrity and well being of her students.
She was very rude and would constantly insult me, singling me out and discriminating against me. Other students committed much worse behaviors and were not singled out.
A student said the "s" word in front of her- she said "honey you should not say that." I did nothing, and she was very rude and verbally abusive. She would call my questions stupid, say that my questions wasted her time, accuse me of cheating then ask if I think it's possible that people work for their grades, say "can we move on? You are driving me nuts! Shut up and let me read the question! What do you want?" She was verbally abusive as you can see. She would tell me to "stop listening to her conversations and go sit somewhere else", demeaning and humiliating me, make sarcastic responses when I froze with fear and couldn't answer a question. She would make verbal threats such as "don't laugh, I can be nasty to you too" and would describe a story about how she slammed a washing machine door on her cat and sat on a stool which was on her cat. She constantly had insulting responses. I experienced severe disabling psychological fear and stress, humiliation. This was four years ago. I was Disabled and incapacitated after finishing her class by the level of fear she instilled in me. I was almost clinically paranoid/psychotic according to doctors. She is a danger to children. I had SEVERE disabling panic and anxiety attacks as a result of being in her classroom.
And just to put this in perspective- I was a very successful student, a valedictorian of the high school she taught at. I was invited by Harvard University for summer programs. But this teacher violated my psychological boundaries and severely intimidated and harassed me.
