Teacher Complaint: Mrs. Lynn Joseph - Pennichuck Junior High School
Mrs. Joseph handles all the discipline at Pennichuck, much to my wife's and my dismay. This is not the first incident we've had with Mrs. Joseph but more on that later.
My son was disciplined (rightly so) for being involved in a fight at school. He was not directly involved in the fight but he helped instigate the incident. It was a "he said, she said" situation with my son right in the middle resulting in two boys fighting. We were informed of the incident and what his punishment would be. He was to spend the following day in A.R. (in house suspension) and in addition write a paper on being part of a team. We agreed, he served his punishment and incident over...right? Wrong! The next day my son came home and informs us that he was pulled out of lunch to be spoken to by the school Police Officer! He was told by the officer that he was lucky that he didn't get in more trouble. He was also told that he could have been charged with kidnapping. In addition he was told that the school encouraged the parents of one of the boys to file said charges against my son and the other boy involved! The boys parents chose not to file such charges...thank goodness.
Now my wife and I have several issues with this scenario. Issue #1 being that we were told what his punishment would be, he served it and it should have been over! Issue #2 being that we were never told that the police would be involved or that they would speak to my child at all! Issue #3 being that if they were going to have an officer speak to my child, not only should they have informed us but it could have been done on the previous day while he was spending his day in A.R. instead of pullin him out of lunch!
Now remember, my son never spoke to the child who was "hurt" during the incident nor did he touch him. He facilitated the incident and accompanied the child but he did not physically participate in the actual incident! We do not, in any way, condone what he did. It was wrong and dumb of him to involve himself in the whole situation but this whole thing is wrong on 2 levels...His punishment should have been over and the whole thing is being blown way out of proportion. 3 middle school boys were "talking smack" to eachother, 2 of them ended up fighting. Punish them accordingly, don't crucify them and them be done with it.
Now as I stated before my wife and I have had issue with Mrs. Joseph before and she always blows things way out of proportion. She alone is responsible for discipline and she makes aweful decisions. She plays the kids against eachother. In general she is not a very nice or warm person....she does not give off a good vibe and the children feel it too. She genuinely seems to enjoy punishing them! If she doesn't like children then she shouldn't work in a school
