Teacher Complaint: Kevin Muck - Wheeling High School
I realize that P.E. is mandatory here in Illinois, but Mr. Muck, your P.E. program is by far the worst I've seen and heard of in Illinois. P.E. should be fun. Students should enjoy working out. Instead, it's lead to it being worse than boot camp and has caused many students to have health problems, tears, anger, and hatred of your program.
Many of the machines in your fitness center are not working properly. One student recently complained that because your machines weren't working properly, she not only missed out on Wildcat Rewards, but had to do her fitness center card activity over again. Her heart rate was at 150 or higher, but the machine wouldn't recognize it as being at that level because it wasn't working properly. When she did the activity over again on a different machine, she had the same problem. Is this fair to students like this one?
Fitness testing has quite a few issues as well. Quite a few students have had to be taken to a hospital in an ambulance or taken to the nurse because of the testing. Many of your students have health issues and instead of recognizing that they do, the teachers in your division just yell at the students and over-work them until a student needs to go to the nurse or needs an ambulance. That's not right!
Your teachers need to realize that P.E. isn't boot camp. It's not like your teachers are preparing the students to be shipped out to Afghanistan or Iraq in a few months. They need to lighten up and be nice to the students.
You need to do more background checks on your teachers. After finding out that some students had a health teacher that was being inappropriate with a female student and that teacher was fired, I started wondering what other games were going on. I'd suggest you find out if any more games are. It isn't fair to the students.
