Teacher Complaint: Sharon Dyer - Bellville J H

Mrs. Sharon Dyer 8th grade math teacher always screams at children. If a child does not understand something she start screaming at them and takes them out to the hallway and continues screaming at them. The other teachers have to close their doors because she is so loud.

I think if a child does not understand a math problem then the teacher should be able to explain it to where they can understand it.

She has no authority to scream at any child.

I am going to see the principal about this to see what she does about it.

Although I would never say that screaming at a child is ever appropriate, the "authority" of which you speak is the Supreme Court of the US, which has ruled and re-affirmed many times "loco parentis". This means that during the school day the faculty are your child's parents.

While I would agree that screaming may not always produce the best result, I don't think there's an issue around a teacher having the authority to do so.
