Teacher Complaint: Helen Johnson - North Wilkes High
i have always enjoyed my time at school. it's a happy get away from a less than happy home. however, that is not true for my third year at north high. helen johnson is beyond ridiculous. i do the best i can and as a result i have always been a decent student. i don't have a bad record, and have never had so much as a detention. now for the shocker: i have a facial piercing. what you see is not what you get with me. it doesn't change who i am, so why am i being punished for protecting my rights to self expression? this is something that is important to me, and i will fight for my rights to be an individual in a public school, in a free country. i would be willing to compromise with her if she would show me even an ounce of the respect i showed her. i understand the 'no gum' rule; i mean i love chewing gum but i hate feeling other's underneath the desks, and i have always thrown my gum away properly. no soda is fine; water is better for you anyway. i could go on and on, but i would probably be ignored as just another whining kid. i'm 17 and these are supposed to be the best years of my life, but this woman is standing in the way of that. it would seem nice if she was gone, but i don't want her fired. let her have her retirement or whatever she's after at north, just give a decent and willing to compromise student some peace. in the absence of a crime i do not deserve to be treated as a criminal. do i?
